Constructed in 1923, the Valencia Mesltalla Stadium is the biggest stadium in Valencia and the 8th biggest football stadium in Spain. • The area where the Mestalla Stadium Valencia is now standing used to be agricultural land covered with fields of crops everywhere with deep water irrigation systems. That’s why when the stadium was built on that site, it was named Mestalla after the name of the famous irrigation canal.
• In 1969, the name of the stadium was changed to Estadio Luis Casanova to honor the president of the Valencia Club de Futbol. However, the original name Estadio Mestalla or Mestalla Stadium Valencia came back in 1994 after the president of the club requested to revert the name.
• All sports enthusiasts who are not lucky enough to witness a live football match at the stadium can take the Mestalla tour to explore the stadium. The Mastella Stadium tour costs differently for different ages, for instance, for adults, it’s 10€-20€ and for kids, it’s 8€-7€.
